Sonia Martin LCSW
Sonia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 10 years of experience. She has a diverse background, working with people ranging from adolescents to adults. Sonia draws from trauma-focused, cognitive behavioral, and mindfulness methodologies. She provides psychotherapy and specializes in anxiety, depression, addiction, identity, sexuality, workplace stress and professional decision-making, and PTSD. She provides support to help navigate life transitions, relationship issues, and stress overall.
I believe in a client-centered and strengths-based approach. Together, we will cultivate a safe environment where you feel encouraged to talk through things freely and work collaboratively on solutions. My goal is to assist in identifying stressors and dismantle negative thought patterns that cause mental, emotional, and physical distress. Everyone deserves a space to explore themselves, question their reality, feel validated, and ultimately embrace their immense potential to grow.
Sonia received her master’s degree from The Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College. She has worked individually and with non-profit agencies serving those struggling with homelessness, addiction, sexual trauma, and race-based trauma. She is highly skilled in deconstructing attachment issues related to childhood trauma, race trauma, and sexual/intimate partner violence.
